美国和俄罗斯的第一次联合太空探险是在1975年，当时阿波罗号和联盟号飞船在轨道上对接。
First American – Russian joint space venture was in 1975 when Apollo and Soyuz spacecraft docked in orbit.

为了做好准备，美国人用俄罗斯空间站和平号绕轨道飞行，俄罗斯人则用美国航天飞机绕轨道飞行。在他们登上航天飞机之前，俄罗斯人必须在休斯顿接受美国装备的训练。在美国期间，他们还在美国进行为期一个月的旅行。
To prepare, Americans orbited in Mir, the Russian space station, and Russians orbited in the American Shuttle. Before they could board the Shuttle, Russians had to train in Houston on American equipment, and while in the U.S. they had a one month tour of the country.
