People who analyzed Meteor Crater concluded that 50,000 years ago, an object 90 to 150 feet in diameter blew out the ¾ mile wide hole that is Meteor Crater and threw that material across the landscape. The rim used to be about a third higher than now, but, erosion. And the hole used to be deeper, but, erosion.
